Cultural projects…
new patrons in the Langhe
Each of the Ceretto family’s initiatives finds its natural setting in the hills of Piedmont, among rows of vines and wineries, naturally accompanied by prestigious bottles and excellent gastronomic treasures.
Wine and the culture that surrounds it are, for us, inseparable from the more general concept of “food culture.” However, in the confusion of the multitude of offers in recent years, the Ceretto family has demonstrated to have its own unique voice, always promoting original and innovative projects and ideas.
Convinced that enological research and the pleasure of a good bottle of wine are above-all a question of culture (and that the more informed wine-drinkers are, the more they will be able to appreciate the study, effort and passion that lie behind a great wine), the Ceretto family has been the driving force behind ventures benefiting architecture, music, and and art in general, just as the ‘patrons’ of days gone by.
Arte e Architettura
The Ceretto family has always embraced contemporary art and modern architecture with great passion and interest. Since 1999, this interest has become reality with the creation of projects including the celebrated Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett Chapel (1999), the panoramic Cube at the Bricco Rocche winery (2000), the Acino at the Monsordo Estate (2009), the restaurants La Piola and Piazza Duomo (2005), "La Casa dell'Artista," an artist in residence project, The Studio, and the Collection Project.
Books and literary prizes
Towards the end of the 1980's the "wine-culture" connecttion had not yet become such an important subject matter: there was little research done in the field, and its promotion both in Italy and abroad was relatively scare. The Ceretto family combined their name with that of the Langhe, their home territory and where their wines are produced, thus creating the Langhe Ceretto Literary Prize, from 1990 to 2001. The jury, composed of international experts and academics, selected texts, from within that year, that addressed themes linked to food culture from a nutritional, sociological and gastronomic point of view
In parallel, since 1990, they have been organizing highly appreciated literary appointments at the Bernardina Estate, inviting authors and journalists to "baptize" the new vintages of Ceretto wines. Throughout the years, these events have brought exceptional guests from all over the world to Alba.
