My Happy Dream and La Speranza (“Hope”)

My Happy Dream and La Speranza (“Hope”)

Kiki Smith, La Piola, Alba, 2014

An exceptional artistic work was performed at La Piola in 2014. Under the porticoes that lead to the Ceretto family’s trattoria serving local traditional cuisine are the shining stars by Kiki Smith. A poetic design (La Speranza “Hope”), made of gold leaf, adorns the outer wall and is completes the installation created for the interior of the hall. Kiki Smith began her collaboration in 2010, when she exhibited in the first exhibition organized by the Ceretto family. In 2011 she was a guest for more than two months at the Artist’s House, which inspired some of her work and in 2012 her work My Happy Dream, two large chandeliers, two suspended aviaries, embellish the new restaurant. Smith is also one of the nine artists who have created their own "Piatto del Buon Ricordo" (an Italian tradition where you would take away your plate at the end of a meal to remember it) reinterpreted in a contemporary way for the local restaurant.
